Summary
His pride dragged through the dirt by his disastrous confrontation with Nightmo, Scarab begins to question his worth as a god-auditor. He throws himself into his work to try and drown out his doubts, but his heart just isn't in it. Anxious, jittery, and losing his edge, it's inevitable that his coworkers would take notice.
But it is Orbo who takes the initiative to do something about it.

Summary
Orbo glanced from the screen of his crystal to Scarab consideringly. "Right on time... as usual," he murmured. Then, he sat forward in his chair. “Well?”
Obediently, molded to perfection over years of constantly improving programming and engrained by habit, Scarab crossed the room. He moved slowly and deliberately, aware of every shift and turn in his mechanical body. The nearly imperceptible sound of gears in his chest turned quietly, accompanying the faint, ticking twist of the mechanism in his back.

Scarab is a god auditor, designed and designated to take down cosmic threats without the limitations of a biological factor, except to blend in with those he gives chase to. At the end of a hunt, he reluctantly returns to his handler to receive more winds from his precious, golden key, a mechanism designed to keep him subservient, and coming back for more each time.

Scarab catches Everplant trying to make off with some highly sensitive office supplies. But rather than egging her immediately, he decides to spot-check her misconduct with a timely correction, and bide his time to see what other mistakes she'll make.
He doesn't ordinarily pay this much mind to his coworkers... But he finds himself bewildered enough by Everplant's behavior to keep watching.

Due to the grievous misuse of mindwipe devices on mortals, and the threat of their usage toward immortals during a particularly intense court case, they had been phased out for good. Those with altered minds and missing memories were given the opportunity to heal from the onslaught of cosmic interference. The returning memories took place in different forms, dependent upon how the recipient's mind was able to parse out the information.

Summary
After undergoing the ritual to fuse with their Behemoth, Grethe recognizes that nowhere within the coven's sight is safe. So they flee, making use of one of the closely-guarded cosmic verities they once discovered in the midst of their meditations to guide them to the one governmental body in all the cosmos that could offer protection to a witch-Behemoth hybrid.
The Cosmic Office takes Grethe into protective custody, and Scarab is assigned as their bodyguard while they get settled in.
