    “I would never... Not until everyone is here, anyway,” he chuckles. “So what’s put you in a mood?”

    “In the last hour, you mean?” she says, making a face. “I swear I want to trade jobs with Drax sometimes. Dealing with adults is so much worse than dealing with children.”

    He can only nod in commiseration. Being responsible was the worst. The thought of quitting it occurred to him about once every hour. It’s been a full week since he made anything explode.

    “There’s no need for threats, my dear. I’m simply…”

    “Stalling.”

    There is an unhappy expression forming on the Collector’s face. If one that doesn’t even hint at the possibility of a double-cross. What with the man appearing to have a healthy sense of self-preservation, for all his posturing. In the end managing only a weak, “That is an utterly obscene amount of money."

    “Which is why I was surprised you were willing to pay it,” replies the former Guardian, perfectly deadpan. “But that was the deal.”

    “We had a verbal agreement at best and…”

    The protest is weak, but still plenty to get Nebula to a point when she’s no longer willing to strain to continue keeping things civil. Her next few words possessing just a trace of an edge that wasn’t there before. “Do you want me to take him back? Because I can take him back.”

And... oh god... you have a dog. No. No no no... There’s nothing I could have done for Sparky but I’m not letting anything happen to you. Not on my watch. Do you hear me, precious slavic puppy? You’re a good girl and I’d rather die than let anything happen to you...”

    The last is delivered to Cosmo who just happened to walk by. Only to get both very confused and hugged within a span of few seconds.

    “I mean...” Darcy says, straightening up to face Nebula again, “there is no dead husband in the picture but... Your sister died, right? But she’s still around. Kinda like Pietro Maximoff,” she finishes in a dramatic tone of someone who just pointed out a thing no one can possibly dispute.

    “These aren’t the suburbs and I’m not cursed to be here. I...”

    “Right. You want to be here. Instead of having all kinds of space adventures,” Darcy cuts her off.
