Summary
When a prominent food critic dies mid-broadcast during a high-profile tasting event at a luxury hotel, the Jeffersonian team is called in to determine cause of death. While the evidence initially points to anaphylactic shock, Brennan quickly identifies subtle signs of poisoning—but the toxin appears to have been administered in microdoses over time. Booth suspects intentional tampering by someone close to the victim, possibly using rare neurotoxins that build up and mimic natural causes.
As Brennan and Hodgins analyze trace elements in the victim’s digestive tract, Angela uncovers that the critic had made many enemies in both culinary and pharmaceutical circles. Meanwhile, Booth begins exhibiting symptoms—numbness, dizziness, confusion—after drinking coffee from the same source. He tries to brush it off, but when he collapses at the lab, the team realizes the killer may have gone after Booth too.
