Darius and the appropriately kind witch from healing coven told him that the potion would help him and insisted he takes it twice a day until his next scheduled check-up. Truthfully, everyone tells him that. That it’ll help him. It’s for the bloodcurdling nightmares and waking up screaming, the shadowy silhouettes appearing in the corner of his eye when he’s the most stressed, the thoughts. Titan, the thoughts are the worst. He wishes they’d just drill a hole in his skull and let them drain. All of them.
But instead, he drinks the potions. He’s following the orders; he’s acting right, he’s being a good dog.

Darius hesitates, his hands hovering above the pan for a beat. Hunter raises a curious brow, Darius doesn't usually do that.
"I uh," Darius stutters, his hands fluttering up the back of his head and scratch at it nervously. "Things at work got tense and everything, you know how it is."
Hunter does in fact not know how it is. He doesn't even know the older man works now that he's thinking of it. He's never bothered to ask at the time because they weren't as close when Darius had first taken him in.
Hunter shakes off the anxiety icing over in his gut and mutters a forced, "Okay," under his breath.
Or, Hunter and Darius are truly trying.

Hunter bit his bottom lip trying to phrase the sentence correctly in his head. “I may have had to make a witch’s deal. Nothing I can’t win but…” he drifted off unsure how to phrase the rest of the sentence.
A heavy sigh resonated from Darius’ mouth, and he pinched the bridge of his nose. “Good gracious. I could be at home right now, with a glass of apple blood. I thought you were good at doing what you were told? You do realise how serious witch deals are?
The fic where Hunter messes up (depends on who you ask), attends Hexside (kinda), and almost dies (a lot). Willow and co. are incredible concerned.

“Perhaps it isn’t the best idea to bring him back to the Owl House.” Raine pointed out gently. At Darius’ unimpressed stare, they started to explain. “I’m not just protecting Eda, I’m protecting him too. The Owl House will be the first place Belos will check.”
Eberwolf grumbled, staring up at Raine quizzically.
“I don’t know where he can stay. He can’t go to the Owl House, and he’s definitely not going back to the castle. Any ideas, Darius?” The bard asked.
Darius stared down at Hunter’s unconscious form, still shaking even asleep. The kid was weakly clutching his cape. With a reluctant hum, the abomination coven head spoke. “He can stay with me.”
“Are you sure?” Raine asked. “It’ll put you in danger.”
“Belos won’t think to check if he’s living with a coven head. Especially one as ‘loyal’ as myself.” Darius explained. “Besides, he’d be more comfortable staying with me than with any of you. Ah, no offence though.”
The beastkeeping coven head chortled, grinning teasingly.
“I agree, Eber. Darius has gone soft.” Raine smirked.
Darius glared, but didn’t try to deny it.
