He froze, let Dot's hand go, raised his head and looked her once more full in the face. Dot found her breaths steadying. His voice, his words, were thankfully calming and soothing. "It must rankle to know that Hex was right," she said.
He chuckled. "Yes, yes… it always does."

I decided not to make it part of the actual fic but it could - and does - still fit in the timeline if you want a bit of additional, slightly more intense smut. The context will make little sense if you haven't read up to Chapter 11 of "Dodge and Burn" - but you don't need full context to follow what is essentially a piece of PWP.
