Summary
This story unfolds through Interrogator Heinrix van Calox’s observation, suspicion, and judgement.
Begins as routine scrutiny and requisition, his assignment with the von Valancius Dynasty soon spirals into tangled treacheries. Traitor Astartes, xenos raids, warp breaches, and a decades-old conspiracy lurking in the shadows, drawing in the Adeptus Mechanicus, Chaos cults, even the Inquisition itself.
The board is set. Heinrix is now part of the game.
But is the enigmatic Rogue Trader just another piece, or is she the player?--Chapter 21: Temptations--
“I had expected you to dissent from my approaches, particularly on Pasqal’s implementation. Even so, I led myself to believe, ‘the Interrogator may be displeased, but he might still acknowledge the necessity’.”
“But why?”
“‘Understanding is the True Path to Comprehension’, as dictated by the Universal Laws. I was tempted by the possibility, and thus, overlooked that you must view everything through a lens incompatible with mine. I regret having said it, for speaking my sentiment served no purpose beyond indulging a temptation born of whim. I should have known the futility of debating epistemology with the Inquisition.”Series
