Summary
Jaime arrives in Winterfell with blood on his hands and purpose in his eyes—and brings Sansa a gift that bites: a half-starved direwolf pup that chooses her on the first growl. Between training yards and war councils, wolf walks and battle fires, they become wrong for everyone else and right for each other—first with Sansa riding him for control and solace, then, after victory and loss, with Jaime taking the lead she finally wants to surrender. When King’s Landing burns and the realm is rearranged, Sansa claims the disgraced knight for the North and for herself. On the road home she uses him without mercy; in Winterfell he becomes her sworn protector by day and her wrecking tide by night. By the time the pup grows huge and her belly swells, Jaime has a purpose again: be sword, be shield, be home.
