Summary
The world grew dark despite the beautiful weather and the sun that had graced the company a moment ago. Yanqing lowered his head, coughing dust in his lungs mixed with blood from the wound of his tongue. He didn't bother to cover his mouth with his too weak hand, resting the bloody blow on his forehead against the cool sand. He was panting miserably again, kneeling on the uneven ground. His hands went to his shoulders to warm himself.
And in an irrational attempt to wrap his arms around himself as if he were a child. Like he was going to drown without the needed hug of his body and reassurance that everything would be okay. As if he wasn't a soldier, but a teenager who needed comfort and care.
