Summary
“Seriously, what is it? You know you can tell me, Warren.” Gordon insisted, and Warren chanced a look at the other man’s face then. Gordon’s eyes were wide and bright and full of life and concern and curiosity, just like they had been forty four years ago. He’s here, Warren thought to himself, he’s here and awake and alive and right in front of you, he’s not going to be taken away from you. He’s here, he’s here, he’s here. Warren didn’t notice his knuckles turn white as he clutched the sheets tighter in his hands.
“Fine, fine ok.” He relented, and let out a big sigh, “It’s just…it’s hard to believe you’re actually here. I keep expecting to blink and have you disappear because I was just hallucinating to make myself feel better or something. I spent all this time waiting for you to wake up, but now that you’re actually awake I have no idea what to do or what to say. I feel like an idiot.” He admitted, feeling a little breathless. For some reason, Gordon just smiled.
“I know a bit about what that’s like.”

Summary
Warren remembers the shuddering warmth and the unbearable notion that was Gordon’s arms tentatively wrapped around his waist, a hand resting at the small of his back. His lips had trembled something into the archive room that he couldn’t have deciphered then but had spent night after night looming over.
I miss you all the time, Gordon had said. Warren never felt like any time would pass between their encounters, hypersleep after hypersleep, but something at the very center of him still understood, intrinsically, what Gordon had meant. A pang in his chest reminded him that he too, felt the same loneliness in his bones in the final moments of his coherence whenever he drifted away, that the very integral part of him has gone missing.
