There’s scorch marks from an explosion on the ground below him and the whole roof is covered with smatterings of congealing blood. This must be it; the site of his crime. Armin scans the scene before him, heart pounding so hard it makes his head dizzy. As he's examining a smear of blood on the next roof over, he spots something lumpy sticking up out of the carnage. He jumps the gap to investigate but doesn’t realise what he’s looking at until he’s crouched down in front of it.
It’s flesh.
Half a shattered hip bone and the top of a thigh are all that is left of Bertholdt Hoover.
