Summary
Newly moved into their apartment together, Nick and Charlie are relaxing when Nick decides to try a new app that Tao shared with him that uses hypnosis to help relax. Charlie is skeptical, but Nick wants to try it. Unfortunately, Nick's phone glitches and he accidentally gets hypnotized into thinking he's a golden retriever puppy. Now, Charlie must figure out how to break the hypnotic suggestion and get his boyfriend back while figuring out how to manage his new "Golden Retriever" in the meantime.

Tao still remembers the first time Charlie hit someone, and how pissed he had been. How Charlie had been the one punished for ‘starting the fight’. Which, okay, yeah, sure. Charlie threw the first punch. He had admitted to that. But he did not start that fight. After everything they’d all gone through, Charlie going to admin, Tao and Isaac going to admin, fuck, Jane and Julio Spring going to admin, this was what it came down to. Charlie being backed into a corner and having no choice but to push back. And he gets punished.
That day had not ended pretty. Tao remembers holding Charlie in his arms as he broke down on his bedroom floor. Remembers the heartbreaking cries leaving his best friend's mouth as he sobbed and sobbed, loud and clearly uncaring. Remembers watching in real time as his best friend hit his breaking point. There was nothing he could do to fix this. They couldn’t escape. Charlie couldn’t escape. All they could do was turn around and face whatever was coming their way head on.

Is all that falls out of Nick's mouth. Ms. Varci nods, her notepad still gripped tightly in her hand.
“Yes. Yes, I know this Nick. We can’t get you out of here unless you tell us the truth.”
Nick scoffs.
“I am telling the truth! I didn’t kill that man.”

Nick gets sent to a psych ward after supposedly killing a man. He spirals through a mental roller coaster with everything that has happened. Something deeper than that "homicide" is going on and nobody can quite place their fingers on it. Charlie relapses, dealing with fact that his boyfriend is a murderer. His friends help him though the tough time, but it wasn't enough. He wanted to see Nick and talk to him, so that maybe, Nick could confess and the victims family could finally rest knowing that the killer is in jail. But life always has bigger plans.
