Summary
Aziraphale speaks every language mortals know, and several they do not. His Grace, burning at the center of him, is older than time. He has sung hymns beyond counting, recited psalms beyond measure, laid to rest a hundred thousand souls, shoveled dirt over the graves of mothers, matrons and martyrs. And even still - there is not enough language yet in existence to articulate the grief that moves behind Crowley’s eyes.
It is the hollow place between the molecules of stars. It is a vast sky lit with light already dead. It is a synonym to syzygy, a sundering of oneself, a reckless, hopeful, wild grief at the end of a thing that has been unnamed.
It is molten wax. It is a parent that should have said more.Or: Crowley and Aziraphale find themselves on the Isle of Crete, Aziraphale unable to perform miracles and Crowley unable to escape his own blessed narrative.
