Summary
He wasn't exactly unfamiliar with unimaginable personal sacrifice for the sake of victory. You'd think having been through it once should have been enough to clue him in on the fact that he really wouldn't want to do it a second time.
But well... needs must and the universe had been at stake. He doesn't quite regret the decision, he can't.
