Summary
Jack Kirby’s OMAC: One Man Army Corps, ended on a truly explosive cliffhanger in issue 8 (1975).
In Kirby’s lifetime, a mere 3-years after he’d left DC following OMAC’s cancellation, Kamandi #59 (1978, another of Kirby's creations) tried to resolve the story and merge mythoi (presumably without his input, as the books represent completely different visions of the future), but it would mark that comic’s final issue, as well.
Following the maestro’s death, other attempts at OMAC reboots have been tried, including Batman – in his divisive brooding super genius era - building the Brother Eye satellite, and OMAC as an Incredible Hulk adjunct in “a boy and his dog” premise.
Presented here, following a brief introduction, is my tribute: OMAC #9, a 20-page comic script, that picks up where Kirby left off, adds some new ideas, and leaves the door open for endless adventures to come.
If anyone wishes to draw it, you have my blessing. Please do so in the spirit of celebrating the spirit of Jack Kirby, while forging your own.
