This is not happening! Mulder was found dead in a field and is now six feet deep. Scully has to find her way back to a sense of normalcy now that the love of her life and father of her child is dead. Grief comes and goes in waves, but the love for her baby keeps Scully grounded. Mulder's legacy will live on.
This fic is an au/rewrite of season 8 starting at the end of episode 14 where Mulder is found dead, buried for three months, then miraculously "comes back to life."

Coming back from the dead is confusing and traumatic, being famous for coming back from the dead means the public has questions. Also Scully's very bad year upon very bad year is catching up with her.

A large hole in the roof with a thin puddle of stale water beneath it also let in the beam of a streetlight, white and blinding after the previous pitch darkness. In the otherwise dark, cold room, the edges of the shaft were defined like a spotlight, and Mulder paused just on the edge of the accompanying diffusion, looking and listening for any sign of the Gunmen.
He didn't have to wait long before a voice sounded from somewhere in front of him, familiar but more menacing than he'd ever heard.
