Chan doesn’t answer, carefully takes the lighter from Jeongin’s hand instead, fingers grazing his palm tenderly. Gasoline pours again from Jeongin’s skin. It’s unusual, Chan never lingers after they’ve fucked, it’s how they work: Chan shows up unannounced after months of radio silence, barely speaks, they fuck in the bathroom and Chan vanishes like the fucking ghost he’s been for the almost past three years, leaving Jeongin behind like he did after that fateful night. Chan fidgets with the lighter some, mirroring Jeongin moments ago. Whatever it is he wants to say or do, Jeongin dreads it. Leaving hurts, true, but it has become routine for Jeongin, for them and he’s not sure he can blur more lines to adjust the map again. Finally, Chan sets the lighter on the window’s ledge. Leans into Jeongin’s space, hand coming up to rest at the back of Jeongin’s neck. His fingers set alight the gasoline and Jeongin shivers, inhaling brief and sharp as the tip of their respective cigarettes connects, Chan’s lighting up. Jeongin opens the window a little bit more and a fresh wind swirls around them, swaying his bangs.
