"Wait! Greg!" he heard Frankie call, perhaps standing himself, maybe staying seated. He wasn't sure. He didn't want to be sure.
Regardless, Greg didn't look back.
Just like Frankie had done all those years ago.

Perhaps he had grown too used to easy companionship, having been spoiled with the few people in his life who he had met so far, who had proven themselves trustworthy and kind, making it doubly as difficult to return to the game that he had grown up with, that he knew so well.
Elizabeth was such a person. He could be open, he could be frank with her. It simply required a bit of editing. That was far more manageable than the fake smiles and several lies he often had to tell for someone to sleep with him, to ensure his parents' name remained in a positive light.
