In APSHDS, Alexander Pierce brainwashed the Winter Soldier into being a child he could manipulate and rape. Bucky has come a long way since then, but he can't extricate his dissociative disorder and stop being a little kid sometimes. He takes comfort in living at Avengers Tower where his friends and family of choice help him through his trauma and show him the care and love he never genuinely received as an adult child.
When he gets to Earth-6347 where the events of the Venom (2018) movie, Children of Venom – Extended Edition, Children of Carnage – Extended Edition and Patriots in Love take place, he has to cope with a new world of surprises, both good and bad. The Family of Patriots does what they can to help care for this strange new Bucky until they can find a way to get him home to his current Daddy, Steve Rogers.
And that's only the beginning.
