    At the ripe age of five, Donatello had messed up. He messed up big time.

    He’d made a gift for one of his three brothers. Not unusual. That gift had malfunctioned, been wrong, or simply ill-received. Also not unusual. But he’d been upset. Unusually upset.

    He’d written an apology note, left it on his bed, and disappeared. He’d intended to come back after he’d learned what he was doing wrong. Why his many inventions and gifts weren’t good enough. He really had intended to come back eleven years ago.

    Until he’d found his way to Big Mama, who had thought his inventions were good enough. She’d told him his gifts weren’t the problem, he was. Donatello wasn’t made to be loved, she’d said. But he was made to be useful. To be appreciated. That’s what he recalled of that day.

    But Donnie can’t really remember anything from back. Though he never dwells on that. He has no reason to.

    Draxum’s lab had many oddities. Scrolls, spells, hexes trapped in crystal glass bottles. He was a man of the mystic arts. Of alchemy. Of weaponry. Of the discovery of the things no one had wanted to touch with a ten foot pole.

    The yokai had many, many questionably legal and potentially unsafe things left out in the open in his lab.

    And unfortunately, Leo and Donnie, happen to stumble upon one of those potentially unsafe things. And unfortunately…there may not be a way back.

    Leo and Donnie accidentally trip into mystic shenanigans and end up fusing into one entity. The catch is, this new person believes they have always been this way. That they have always been one person.

    And, at the end of the day, they may not want to turn back.

    But yet, as all four of them wanted nothing more than to go back... god, this was all they had ever wanted their entire lives. The sun. Open fields. And to be normal- but that would never happen. 

    "...We can also just stay, even for a bit longer?" Mikey offered, looking up. "The sun feels... nice."

    Or; the one where Future!Leo somehow managed to luck out on a one in a million mere millisecond chance of a freak glitch in the space-time continuum that sends him back into the present, where the Invasion has been successfully driven back. And it looks like it was a one-way ticket travel.
