After Haley was killed, Aaron Hotchner believed he wasn't supposed to find love again. Losing Beth due to circumstances outside of his control seemed to prove that theory.
Caitlin Vasquez gave up on the idea of love long before it could be proven to her. Her long list of situationships only proved her hypothesis.
But when Cait's best friend joins the BAU, and an opportune meeting takes place during an inter-unit case, they both feel the foundations of their own beliefs shift.
Cait starts to think that just because she comes from a broken family, doesn't mean she can't find her own whole one. And Aaron starts to think that maybe, just maybe, there might be something left in him to give to someone else.

Or, I saw a tiktok (@elizabethmorganm) talking abt what an unsub would say to each member of the BAU to get under their skin and it set me off to write this (which i have been thinking abt for a while but i hadn't written it yet)
