This place had been his own little secret for so many years—somewhere he could think, could breathe, far away from the bustle of endless missions and the lives depending on him.
And now, it would be their secret—all five of them. Tonight ended up being the perfect night, with the waxing crescent moon a sliver in the sky, the Milky Way glittering overhead as wind rustled the needles of the few trees nearby. They'd be together under a vast, midnight canvas dotted with stars. He couldn't think of a better way to celebrate their first anniversary—and in a way that amazed him. A full year had passed since they first met Sparrow, since they'd taken her under their metaphorical wings and preened her feathers until they shone brighter than the galaxies.
