Summary
Prisoner of war. Prisoner of flesh. Prisoner bound by tubes and bags rather than shackles and locks. Gaz was a prisoner, Simon realized, and the walls of his cell were cell walls. His own skin. And his nervous system. And the soft, soft, soft white bedsheets, the soft, soft, soft blue tint of the walls and the scrubs of the people taking care of him, and their soft, soft, soft voices, and Gaz's soft, soft, soft breathing. It was a very soft prison. The only thing that wasn't soft was the agonizingly repetitive BEEP-BEEP-BEEP of the machinery, reminding everyone who could hear it that no matter how soft a hospital room was, being inside one always meant somebody was hurt.

Kyle "Gaz" Garrick suffers a stroke after the helicopter incident.
(Inspired by a book I read in seventh grade. Lots and lots of whump. Do not read if you do not want to be sad.)
