Cortese attacks Amphipolis and young Xena tries to defend her city, but she is defeated and enslaved. Cortese continues his raid, attacking Potidaea and also enslaving Gabrielle. These enslaved women follow different paths in their lives, but they meet again and perhaps, together, they may change their tragic fates.

When a strange illness and disputes among the Scythian tribes arise, a desperate king fears for his son's safety. He makes Xena an offer: she must protect and mentor his son, and in exchange, he will guarantee the safety of her tribes. Although she is furious, she realizes she cannot refuse—if the heir dies, her people will be next. Upon her arrival to meet the prince, she is introduced to a group of advisors and tutors. Among them is Gabrielle, whom Xena recognizes as the young girl she saved from slave traders over ten years ago.
Together, they must navigate the complexities of raising a royal child and their own unusual partnership. -

A slow-burn romantic semi-comedy about two useless friends sharing a kiss and then panicking about it for weeks.
Begins with a prologue set the morning after episode s2:e13, The Quest, just before the start of A Necessary Evil. The rest of the story then begins about a month later (but definitely before ADITL).
(I’m using the canonical ‘kiss’ in The Quest as a starting point, but messing with canon a wee bit, since Aphrodite gets involved and technically we hadn’t met her in the Xenaverse yet. But she wrote herself into my story, I was hardly going to say no.)
