The main difference is that when Marinette becomes the guardian, she decides never to give out any more miraculous because 1. All of her friends’ identities are compromised and 2. After the drama with Lila, her relationships are pretty strained with all of her friends as it is, and 3. she has become generally less trusting and more of a shut-in now that she is the guardian and in reaction to accidentally compromising Master Fu. The story starts on the three-year anniversary of Stoneheart, and both Adrien and Marinette are 17 years old and entering the last year of lycée (because the ages in the show are confusing and I make the rules here). -

Three months later and Marinette cursed the fact that all her luck as Ladybug was spent solely on the heroism side. She had made some tentative friendships with a few of her classmates and even spent time after school with several of them at the arcade or in study groups.
Even her grades were doing well despite the language transition and her anxiety over not mastering English before beginning. She still struggled with slang words and the seemingly endless homophones and exceptions.
Coffee boy, as she had dubbed him in her mind, had not only outright refused her truce coffee, but continued to give her suspicious glances and watched her like a hawk during lunch. It was awkward and uncomfortable and it pissed. her. off.
