He feels the sense of time creep up at the back of his neck. Like an itch placed at the part of your back you can't reach. It's there, and it spreads through the rest of his body as he feels the dread pile up and block his airways. He can't breathe. Never realised what he needed to be able to see, how a couple simple words would change his life. For the better, he'd argue in hindsight, but right now it was like nothing he had ever experienced. So his body did what it did best, even if his mind decided something else, he panicked.
This time, however, he wasn't alone.

In 2019, Daniel Ricciardo, the man who took his place after Mark retired, moved to Renault after cracking under pressure from the young rising star — Max Verstappen. His seat was quickly filled by a boy both Mark and Christian had their eyes on — Sebastian Vettel. In 2019, happened something that last transpired in the first-ever Formula 1 season, a rookie won the Championship.
Mark thought that 2020 couldn't be more crazy. He was wrong. In 2020, both Lewis and Max wanted to settle the score. In 2020, Sebastian made an announcement that changed everything. Becoming the youngest WDC in the history of the sport is no easy feat, Mark had to appreciate that. What he didn't appreciate was dealing with the rumours and media backlash for sleeping with someone half his age. As you sow, so shall you reap.

Mark growled grumpily when he heard someone knocking on his door. He knew that the hotel's reception had called minutes before to let him know that Sebastian was coming up to his room, but he still felt unwilling to get out of bed to answer the door.
He doesn't meet those familiar blue eyes when he opens the door, actually, he sees a boy standing in the hallway with a backpack on his back and looking at him with intense brown eyes.
Mark bends down and speaks in a calmer voice, imagining that he is the son of some fan who got lost inside the hotel. “Hi, buddy. Do you need help finding your parents?” He notices that the boy is holding a piece of paper in his hand, but no pen. “Or do you want an autograph?”
The boy raises an eyebrow and shows that the paper is actually a birth certificate.
“You are my dad”
