Tom Riddle was not easy to scare. Since he was 5 years old, he hasn't felt afraid, since that night he made peace with the thunder that imposed its presence on the roof of the orphanage and learned to hear the rumbles that lived in the dark night sky as if it were a lullaby. Tom lived unafraid.
But even though Tom is not scared by the sounds and screams of thunder, he is afraid of being touched by the deadly branch called lightning. And for the light it made in the black night, as if it were more powerful than the dark immensity that Tom learned to appreciate.
Tom mets light personified, so sweet and gentle, so naive and dear, like starlight on a bright night. Little does he know that who he knows is the lightning in person, who orders and who serves with stubbornness and power. And little does he know that he is the night. So so dark.

When Professor Dumbledore went to visit Tom Riddle at his orphanage in 1938, he was surprised to find another magical child there—one joined at the hip to Tom, apparently.
After witnessing a fantastical display of power, Professor Dumbledore saw no reason for Tom's friend, ten-year-old Oliver, not to attend Hogwarts with him in September.
As they began their first term at Hogwarts, it soon became clear to the boys that they had a lot to learn about the wizarding world. And while both experts at manipulation, it seemed they were still at a disadvantage in the Snake House. So how will they overcome their House's prejudice, and will they prevail and rise to the top of Slytherin's hierarchy?
This story will include Tom and Oliver's First Year at Hogwarts, as well as flashbacks into their pasts which will explain how they met and how two such wary boys came to trust each other so implicitly.

Here he was, expending a significant amount of his mental energy to keep his thoughts regulated and normal, and what did he have to show for it? People thinking he was abnormal and creepy for a five year old. That was what he had to show for all his hard work. It was patently unfair.
Tom Riddle has a natural affinity towards passive legilimency. He grows up completely convinced everyone around him can also read minds, but they are too stupid to utilize the skill properly. Being surrounded by idiots is hard.
