A retelling of Persuasion where everything is the same, except Wentworth is a pirate. Or a privateer, if one wishes to be proper. After returning from the seas, Frederick has another battle to fight: his feelings for Anne. Anne herself is also feeling the effect of his return.
Both are still reeling from the effects of their past. Although each wishes to avoid the other, they cannot deny the attraction that exists between them.

This is a modern retelling of Persuasion.
At 24, Anne Elliot chose duty over heart, staying behind to manage her family’s dysfunction rather than build a future with Wentworth Roberts, a principled and brilliant journalist at the start of his career, who had offered her a life beyond home, where she might have pursued her own ambitions.
Ten years later, Anne is still stuck: her father more destructive than ever, her sister still struggling, and Anne herself with little to show for her sacrifices but a quiet life and a stack of failures.
When an unexpected connection brings them back into each other’s orbit, Anne is forced to confront the price of that badly executed break up, and all that she’s lost, of Wentworth, and of herself.
Wentworth, now with a prestigious career and a mind full of pressing matters, is certain the woman in front of him bears no resemblance to the one who once broke his heart. The uneasy thoughts creeping in must be nothing more than the dissonance between the myth he built around her, and the subdued, unremarkable figure she’s become. Surely, he tells himself, she poses no threat to his peace of mind.
