Max doesn't know what exactly it is Charles is running from. All he knows is that he can't help Charles keep running forever.
Max tries to imagine his fingers coaxing a melody out of a piano. He imagines they would stomp, banging up and down relentlessly. Nothing like the fine and delicate notes he listens to now. In his mind, he begins to draw a picture of long, slender hands. Pale and soft, lacking the callouses and scars that dot his own.
