It’s really, really cold outside. The snow – it's actually gotten cold enough for snow!– is thick on the ground, and Scott guesses that if he were to go outside it would be getting in over the top of his shoes and drenching his poor feet.
Lucky for him, then, that he’s inside where the fire is warm in the hearth. It’s not quite roaring- it’s starting to burn down low, actually, but that’s why he’s sent Jimmy out to bring in more firewood from the store. Scott's honestly rather smug about being able to say warm and cozy inside- it’s fine for him to be as such, Jimmy isn’t in any danger after all. He only has to go to the other side of their little hilled-in hideaway.
