Summary
In-ho hates uncertainty.
Guessing, predicting the volatile mind of Seong Gi-hun from Ssangmun-dong: was the greatest game of them all.
Exhilarating, daring, revitalizing a fire so old he was sure even the embers didn’t remain - but there Gi-hun was- a match thrown to the charcoal.
It wasn’t the only fire inside him Seong Gi-hun re-kindled.
This one was warmed with clasped, shielded hands, guiding breaths, tinted by sun-rays. It lives. Just a little thing. Something more than a flickering candle. Something beyond the ashes. Something in the sticks and leaves. Something lost if not tended to.
Just a little thing.
A little thing that lives.
And it burns.
Sinches the hair on his arms if he gets too close.
Steams his eyes if he stares too long.
Smokes his lungs if breathes its colours.
Black, brown, bronze, gold,
Green, white,
red.

Summary
Blood creeps up his hands, drying like paint on his arms. The knife was tight in his grip.
He is alive. He is nothing. Sang-woo is dead.
Gi-hun inhales, and tangy metal fills his lungs.
_____The Frontman had smiled at In-ho and tried to explain to him about how the games were inevitable, and about how he was essentially making them... fairer. He spoke of structure, of fairness, of systems, and spoke as if slaughter can be humane.
And yet, all that In-ho could think of was about how the orchestrator of these violent, inhuman games—had once bled and begged like the rest of them.

Summary
He was always cold. It didn’t matter how much he tried to warm himself up, how long he’d scald his skin under boiling showers, how many blankets he curled up under, Sangwoo was always cold.
He’d been cold since the final day of the games. He’d been soaked in rain, clothes sticking uncomfortably to his skin along with patches of dried blood, sand digging into his back. When he took Gihun’s hand, and they were led back through to the main room, the cold air seeped into his bones and made its bed there. Seeing that piggy bank in front of them, completely empty, made Sangwoo so unwell that he almost passed out.
--
OR: Sangwoo takes Gihun's hand in the final game and they leave with nothing, just to return years later.

Summary
“I’m the only one who can understand you, Gi-hun-ssi,” Hwang In-ho said quietly, unaffected by the venom Gi-hun had just spit at him. His voice wasn’t defensive — it was... understanding. Tired. Like he welcomed the hatred. Like he believed he actually deserved it.
“I know what it means to survive while 455 people die around you, and sometimes even causing their deaths.”
The Frontman refilled his glass slowly. Took another drink.
“I know what it means to come back to a world that’s moved on without you. To come back and find the people you loved already gone.” He paused. “Or — like in your case — still alive but out of reach. A daughter you decided not to see her grow up into a woman, a daughter you decided to leave alone to sacrifice yourself for a daughter who isn’t yours.”
“D-Don’t talk about my daughter.”

“Why?” Gi-hun repeats again, not sure what he's asking for. Young-il presses his lips together, fidgeting with his mask. There was so much that he could say to answer that question. “I was like you,” Young-il replies finally.
Or, Hwang In-ho and Seong Gi-hun's confrontation in detail.

Summary
Gi-hun sucked in a breath. His fist tightened around the knife handle, so tightly that his veins could be seen underneath the skin stretched pale. His teeth were clenched to the point of pain and he could feel himself trembling, letting out small pained breaths as he leaned over the sleeping man's body. He was preparing to do it, to get it over with, when suddenly, a voice rang out in his head.
Ahjussi. Don’t do it. You’re not that kind of person.
Sae-byeok…
Gi-hun let out a gasping breath, and he could feel his eyes watering, threatening to spill tears. His hand trembled more, jerkily shaking against the man’s skin, threatening to draw blood at any moment.
“Sae-byeok…” Gi-hun mumbled underneath his breath. He could hear the wetness in his own voice, the pain he carried with just that one name. At one time, he would have believed in her words. He wasn’t that type of person, the type to kill just for his own gain.
But…
He was now, wasn’t he?
A rewrite of the S3 scene when Gi-hun is given a knife to end the games with by the Frontman. What if he had decided to go through with it?
