The darkness of the Fold is deeper than the blackest night, the shadows all encompassing. Alina drags in a deep breath of air, and the darkness tastes like forest trees and the earth when it rains, tainted sharply with something that reminds her of the strongest whisky and leaves her reeling and light headed - wanting more.
