Desperate, the beaten and bruised Scions are offered a way out. But, Alphinaud Leveilleur, stubborn as he is, suggests another course of action - The Scion's of the Seventh Dawn may be down, but they are not out. Vivail, Alphinaud, and uninvited guest Estinien Wyrmblood, the Azure Dragoon, will venture forth into dangerous lands, to find Lady Iceheart, in hopes that peace may be brokered and lives saved. While Alphinaud hopes for peace, Estinien prepares for blood - He knows in his heart dragons cannot be trusted, and that the only good one lies dead at his feet.
Vivail herself merely hopes for a good resolution. Her body aches, her mind reels, and no sign of the Scions lost at the Banquet. The Voice tries to befriend her. Surprisingly, she may find her Echo may not be the rare gift she thought.
