Din’s eyes come to rest on the weapons rack--specifically the ice axes placed on it. He recalls how menacingly the light from the holos flashed off them as Corin Valentis cut through each 'attacker'.
"Ah, this is about the boy from District 2.” Liita tilts her head and frowns. “Pretty face, strong body--I may not be into that, but I can see how one might be attracted to him.” She shrugs.
Din crosses his arms defensively. “I’m not...attracted to him.”
She wears a small, knowing smirk. “Never said you were.”
He scowls and walks towards the next training station. “And he’s not that pretty.”
Liita snorts. “You’re a terrible liar.”
“Okay, so he’s pretty. Whatever. But he’s also dangerous.”
“Careers always are," she counters. "Your point?”
“This guy--he’s more than dangerous, he’s--”
“As psycho as a sith with a saber?” Liita supplies.
“Exactly.” Din halts at the painting station where the Stray is drawing with a stubby, green finger.
“Look, the Plan doesn’t involve hunting Careers down. Our orders were to--” Now the girl stops to stare at the child. Realization dawns on her face.
Din doesn’t take his eyes off the child. “You have your orders. I have mine.”

“You’d really be doin’ me a favor if I could hitch a ride out of this dump. Take me with you?” There’s a plaintive note in his voice, and Din sees something he’s rarely seen in Mayfeld’s eyes—hope. He looks like he’s counting on Din, trusting Din to save him. It is a simple request, and Din wishes he could grant it.
“Dank farrik!” Not for the first time, Din curses letting himself be talked into that ship, with barely enough room for himself and the kid. The N-1 would have made sense for past Din—a young hotshot bounty hunter making a name for himself, beholden to no one as long as he sent his credits home to the covert in exchange for a beroya’s freedom. But he wants other people in his life now. He’s made room in his heart, but not in his ship.
Mayfeld sees his hesitation. “You don’t have to worry about me behaving myself. I won’t cause you any trouble.”
Din sighs in frustration. “You don’t understand. I can’t.”

US Marshal Cobb Vanth enlists Ex-Con Migs Mayfeld for help on finding an old partner in crime that's been on the run for some time. After a run in with Bounty Hunter Din Djarin and a near deadly shootout, the three of them team up for maximum coverage. Despite the sass, tension, and mutual pining the three eventually become friends of sorts. Just when their adventure comes to an end Din receives a phone call informing him of Grogu's kidnapping by infamous Mafia boss Moff Gideon, sending the three on an even more dangerous rescue mission.
