Notes:
Every time I think I'm done writing about Edelgard, I prove myself wrong. Just when I thought I was out... she pulls me back in! If you enjoyed An Eagle Among Lions, then I hope you'll get a kick out of this adventure, too!Please don't feel deterred from this fic if you've never seen Symphogear before. Hopefully, it won't be too difficult to follow along even without any foreknowledge of this series, though it probably will throw a lot at you right in the beginning (though, to be fair, the show does that too)! If the idea of weaponized J-pop showtunes and a singing magical girl doing her best Sabin impression with a space shuttle intrigues you, though, please consider giving it a shot! Much like Fire Emblem Three Houses, its best character is a short white-haired girl who wears red.
Also, this story will contain my own "localizations" of songs from the Symphogear discography. While I'm certainly no translator by any means, I decided on this approach for three reasons:
- So a reader could conceivably put on the instrumental and sing along (if one were brave enough to do so), since I'm writing the lyrics to scan with the meter
- To make sure the lyrics don't feel out-of-place by comparison when English-language songs are used in the fic (you know a FE3H/Symphogear crossover cannot exist without Edge of Dawn showing up at some point)
- To bring the songs closer in line with the tone and themes of this particular story (for example, Hibiki's lyrics keep picking up Edelgard vibes. Dunno why that keeps happening. It's probably nothing to be concerned with)It's a whole lot of extra work but I couldn't bear to not do it, and at the end of the day, isn't that what fanfiction is really all about?

Summary
An alternate take on canon to give Edelgard the story she deserved and the house leaders the friendship they should've had with a heavy, HEAVY emphasis on Yurileth. It starts with Azure Moon, but adds in Verdant Wind's and Silver Snow's unique chapters while also yoinking lore from Crimson Flower and a dash of Cindered Shadows before mixing on high for sixty years.
There's a tiny bit of Three Hopes, but only really adding Shez, Arval, Epimenides, Holst, and (actual) Monica to the main plot of Three Houses.
Hopefully that'll draw your attention enough to give it a try? Idk. More notes in the fic because I only get like, 1k for a summary.

Dried mud and black rocks. That was what the skin of his remains resembled when his body was slumped before Felix. There was no golden hair to speak of on what had been his head, and pieces of him were missing where the cindered flesh faded into bones.
Felix heard the gasp and sob of Ingrid somewhere behind him, but she might as well have been miles away from where he stood, transfixed.
The metal armor must have pressed against his skin like a branding rod, Felix found himself thinking numbly as he looked over the body.
He looked again at the face of the thing that lay before him. It had, almost, been burnt beyond recognition. But, the flames hadn’t done enough to obscure the familiarity of those features he knew so well. Felix felt almost unconscious with the shock of it all as he stared down at what had, at one time, been the man he was supposed to protect with his life.
...He had allowed this to happen.
“Now then.” The emperor standing across from Dimitri’s corpse spoke in a heavy voice. Felix’s eyes remained fixed downward, not looking up to meet her gaze.
“I believe we have terms of surrender to discuss.”
