    Summary

He holds his hand out behind him, trying pathetically to gesture for Newton to hand him the handkerchief he knows the younger scientist keeps on him, even if he wouldn’t admit it.

(Newton has very high chances of finding some way of hurting himself wherever he ends up. It is, Hermann admits, a very special talent.)

He hears one, maybe two steps, and then a large thud. He immediately frowns and whips around.

“Newton?” he asks as he turns, and it takes him a minute to comprehend and process Newton on the ground, twitching and making small, panicked noises, as if he were an injured animal. “Newton! By Jove, have you fallen? What on earth have you tripped on?”

    Summary

It was cinematic–quite beautiful, really. It would have made a lovely shot in a tragedy movie–a travesty in itself that it wasn’t. Because it certainly was beautiful. And yet, not at all the death doctor Newton Geiszler deserved.

The next time they let Hermann see Newton, it was simply because he wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.

Hermann always believed that the beginning was the hardest. Ending was hard, too, and of course, middles were exceptionally difficult because life just isn’t fair.

    Summary

“…incredibly toxic, and I’ve just dumped it all over myself haven’t I,” Newt finished. He looked down at himself and felt his eyes burning from the fumes. It didn’t seem to be stinging his skin yet, he thought with a disconnected interest, but that would start any minute now. Huh. He should be taking notes.
“Are you going to die?” said Hermann, in a tone Newt had never heard from him before.
He wanted to say, no, he’d be fine, he just needed to get out of these contaminated clothes and wash himself off as quickly as possible and also Hermann should probably leave now that there was a big spill of kaiju blue just loose on the floor, but instead he started laughing and couldn’t stop.
