"If the apocalypse doesn't kill us, raising teenagers will."
Logan was hesitant to even call this the "apocalypse." The world hadn't ended, and the six of them were very much alive. Society as they all knew it, however, had ended. This was an infection that had been the trigger for the collapse of their governments and the rise of pure anarchy. With most of humanity either dead, infected, or out of communication. This was not the end of the world, rather destruction on a catastrophic scale. For that reason, he could agree that this was an apocalypse.
"I know the boys can be frustrating, Logan, but they need us. They wouldn't kill us. I hope."
Patton knew deep down that the boys wouldn't kill them. They were too vulnerable, only being between the ages of thirteen and sixteen. He knew he was in over his head trying to take in four teenagers in these circumstances. What else was he supposed to do? He wasn't about to leave them to fight every moment of their lives. Besides, having so many people around brought familiarity to this entirely unfamiliar world. They needed him.
Patton offered a supportive smile to Logan. He needed him too.Series

Roman refuses to fall for such a villain, who’s likely an ugly old man who shares his parents’ values. Roman did not expect his future husband to be so understanding. Or young. Or attractive.

Order, Nature, Life, and Death have been around for centuries. Within that time many changes have occurred whether that be in appearance, developing relationships, or new additions to group. Perhaps most notable was the courtship between Life and Death and the subsequent child. This turned out to not be such a positive development.
Or, this is a story of Patton's partial daddy issues because his father is literally Death and this is also causing "marital" problems.

Virgil stared at the cabin towering over him, mortified. This was a place for confident teens ready to make friends and let loose, not anxious 16 year olds who survived school during the day with oversized headphones and had panic attacks over conversations that happened 3 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰.
Virgil wasn't ready for summer camp, or at least he didn't think he was, but after being dropped off and watching his parents disappear down the street reality slapped him in the face as he realized he was already here.
He planned to just lay low, hide and wait out the four weeks but upon finding out he wouldn't be alone a wave of comfort swept over him.He wasn't sure where this would lead but he had an entire month to find out.

"After the door clicks shut behind him, Virgil can’t help but wonder— how many more lunches does he have with Janus, really? It has become increasingly clear to Virgil that the number is finite. He doesn’t know whether that excites or terrifies him. He doesn’t know if it means he should cherish the time they are spending together, or if he should just comfort himself with the fact that he won’t have to play this game much longer.
He’s so tired. He knows they won’t be friends after this semester and it feels like a terrible secret to be keeping.
But, today isn’t then and neither is tomorrow. Virgil tries and fails to remind himself that he hasn’t technically made a decision yet. But, he knows he mostly has. He isn’t uncertain because he has any substantial doubts, he just feels guilty. The idea of cutting off Janus, of washing the blood from his hands, makes him feel like a monster and a coward.
He hates that it also feels so, so right. Like it’s the only way he’ll ever be truly free."

His night light was on a few feet away from his bed, a little froggy lamp that Remus had gotten him once he stepped over his older alternative by accident, and the little guy gave the entire room a pleasant cozy atmosphere, coloring the blank walls with a soft green light.
Unfortunately for Patton, not even that served as much help to this particular problem.
He wasn’t even sure how to begin to describe it. He had been more restless than usual, more forgetful, more aloof, and he had dismissed it all as just having a bad day. Every bone in his body had craved for the rest that he was trying to get to as soon as he got home, but apparently God had other plans for him.

Janus doesn’t try to notice Patton around campus, but they are kind of difficult to ignore. Patton is just the sort of person who it is easy to notice.It became an inside joke with himself, the way Patton's laugh could carry across the corridors or their seemingly constant presence in Janus' peripheral.
Janus would often glimpse his stupid little cat backpack turning a corner (they didn’t have any classes together, but sometimes Patton would be heading into a building as Janus was leaving.) Patton was deeply, profoundly silly. It was amusing to Janus. The witnessing was neutral. It was just nice to have something to smile about— something that was just for him.
There was no obligation or meaning attached to it, Patton was just a strange and entertaining person. They were easy to notice and that was the beginning and end of it.
