College AU. From the 1st chapter:
Nicole made her way downstairs. Their rental house was modest. The stairs went down into the living room, which took up one half of the entire side of the house. On the other side of the living room by the front door was a small dining nook that opened into the kitchen. Standing at the bottom of the stairs, Nicole looked at the mess that was left from the night before. Empty beer bottles lined the coffee table, and an overflowing ashtray balanced precariously on the edge of the end table next to an empty bottle of whiskey. Walking through the dining nook into the kitchen, Nicole shook her head. No wonder Wynonna had slept through her alarm, she and Doc must have been up really late.

Riiva watched as the suns barely peaked out over the sands of Tatooine and she sent out a silent wish that something would change. That the Force would send her a chance. A chance to do something more. To do something that meant something.
She opened her eyes and the suns had risen enough. It was time to get going. She got ready for work, and as she walked into the bay, she watched the droids finish the first fuel-up of the day. She heard Peli shouting something and she smiled. Riiva wondered briefly if she should take back her wish she had made earlier. There was a saying that did warn you to be careful about wishing. Especially when the Force was involved.
‘The Force is a mysterious thing’ an old teacher had said to her once. ‘It always has a way of surprising you’.
A shiver ran down her back and she looked up at the sky. She decided to hold onto her wish. She hoped that today would bring something into her life, hoped that it would bring her a chance.
