Before he could think of a snappish response, something that lead Obrin to apologizing for his actions, saying he thought he was someone else– Obrin shoved him into an all-encompassing hug, his cane clattering to the ground.

“I didn’t know when I’d see you next, and I wasn’t sure if they’d be any good.” His eyes flicked toward Kabru with a teasing glint. “Had to test them first, obviously.”
“And?” Kabru prompted.
Mithrun’s lips quirked, the corner of his mouth lifting as he swiped his tongue over his lower lip in thought. “They were delicious,” he admitted, kicking his foot out to nudge against Kabru’s leg—just a light tap before his heel rested back against the desk.

“He’s not aggressive, I swear." As he bent down to calm the dog, Mithrun couldn’t help but notice how the sunlight seemed to catch the tan of his skin, how his muscles shifted beneath his clothes with every movement. His smile, though slight, was disarming, as if he'd captured the sun in his grin. “Just a big guy. Real sweetheart, I promise.”
Mithrun stood frozen, still trembling with adrenaline. He could see the dog’s playful eyes, its mouth slightly open in a goofy expression as its tail thumped against the ground. Not aggressive? Mithrun thought, feeling the flush of embarrassment begin to heat his cheeks.

"I hardly believe that marrying the victim is proper etiquette for me as a detective to exhibit, Miss Pattadol," Kabru tried to play off with a smile. "And I imagine even less so without the victim's consent."
"Mr. Mithrun would never have been gifted consent, no matter should he...!" -She struggled for words- "... sh-should he be of sound body and mind. Please, Detective. Have faith in me when I say that I truly believe you are his only hope. Perhaps even saving him in more ways than you could ever know!"Kabru found himself looking towards the envelope from earlier. Atop it were two pictures: one beholding a beautiful young man, wavy hair, sharp elven ears and bright silvery wide eyes, while the other... the same man. His hair sheared and clumped, ear tips crudely hacked off and one eye, his now only eye, bruised with exhaustion, the light of life completely dulled to a black iris. He more resembled a memorial death photograph as opposed to a living portrait.
This was the current Mithrun of the House of Kerensil: the victim of this case Miss Pattadol presented him with, and now, Kabru's fiancé.--- Please read the notes at the beginning!
