His lips felt the same against hers, memory dusting the moment with familiarity, and she melted into his embrace. Rikki didn’t know what was going to come next, if they were going to get back together or whether Zane even still wanted her in his life like that, but it didn’t matter—all that mattered was this, his arms around her, holding her safe, his lips on hers, his complete disregard of her tail. Proof that she was still Rikki to him, not the creature he’d hunted, proof that was all that mattered.
