Summary
To aid her son in his quest to spread his influence, it is said that Henry Tudor, Count of Richmond, was born on 28 January. She had not been seen in many months, not since she had first been married to her husband, and now that he had died, she had more reason to be hidden away from the world that did not care for her mourning. The Countess of Richmond, Lady Margaret Beaufort, widow to Edmund Tudor, First Earl of Richmond, made certain that all records were altered in accordance with her brother-in-law’s will and cunning. There are no records that say otherwise, Jasper Tudor had assured her; they had been burnt in the fireplace as the rain fell outside, giving them reason to use the papers as kindling for the hearth.
