Summary
The scene goes sideways, slides into something else. Something real, Roy’s memory. Dick and Donna, tucked together in the corner of a crowded room, their heads bowed together, their knees touching. Dick brushes Donna’s hair off her shoulder. Donna laughs at something he says. In Roy’s mind, there’s – a brighter, glowing color that seems to coalesce around them. Maybe it’s a bubble. Maybe it’s a halo.
Roy’s skin is cold, several feet away, but his lips still shape a smile as he watches them. A private, unseen thing.

Summary
The worst part about repairs wasn't the discomfort, or the mild pain, or even how defenseless it made him, when his cybernetic parts were shut off and only the little humanity remaining. At this point, the human part of Dick was barely more than a brain connected to a heart and lungs, with his nervous system and veins used to map wires. The worst part was, honestly, sitting still.
Roy's figured out a way to replace some of the parts of Dick's legs to make them resemble his old legs better. Dick is optimistic yet wary.

POV characters are Grace Choi, Tim Drake, and a little Jason Todd at the end. I might end up writing a longer fic that fits into this one in the future where we get some of the context leading up to this scenario and Dick and Roy’s POVs as well!
