“Shut the fuck up,” Chris said flatly, as he turned his head, as if he could see through stone walls and use heat vision on the fat bastard in the car. A single ex-girlfriend doesn’t even compare to the pile of ex-wives the fucker has. Even if Chris’ ex was marrying the wealthiest man in Gotham City.
Emilia shifted her head slowly, eyes scanning the crowd, “Stop. Keep your eyes out for the leech.”
As if his luck couldn’t get worse, the music started. Drifting over the crowds murmuring with ease, signaling for guests to take their seats. The symphony of red-bottom shoes shuffled against the flooring as people started to sit. Staff moved through each pew, asking guests to sit and ready themselves. They were dressed in pressed black suits. They looked like servants. Little puppet men. The crowd settled without complaints as the music continued. It took all of six and a half minutes for people to sit down and shut up. Chris pulled on his tie slightly as the daunting sound of the organ doing nothing to quell his shitty feelings.

Together, they try to carve out a peaceful life, yet her less than perfect family messes up their harmony.
