Summary
All is as it should be in the world. Upstarts who decided they wanted to be gods have been sealed away. Dragons are dead. The Tempest has its Voice. Whitestone has it's lost Lord back... A group of mercenaries come to Whitestone, looking for said Lord. They come bearing gifts of firearms, schematics, and a man who has been smuggling them. But Lord Percival is away with Vox Machina, on a little "vacation adventure". They leave their regards, to be passed on. When Lord Percival returns, he has papers to catch up on. He is eager to hear of what was turned in while he was gone. And he is told of the message that was left for him by the mercenaries who had been sorry to miss him. Maybe next time...

Cassandra hasn't seen her brother like that in a long time... in less than half an hour, he has left the city in pursuit of these mercenaries. When she speaks to Vax'ildan later, she learns that they were not friends, but the worst of enemies. And they hurt her brother. But then she tells Vax something that scares him to the depths of his soul. Percival has gone after them alone. The Stone Brothers that they knew, numbered five: now, there are MANY MORE... And Percy has NO idea...

But the trap that snared them involved magic that inflicted grievous injury upon the Celestial Champion of the Raven Queen, and his condition worsens day by day. Vex'ahlia sees an opportunity... if Vax gives in to death, he will regenerate... and escape to launch a rescue... but with the abuse that Percival is being put through, Vax isn't willing to leave him...
But... he also may have no choice...

An elven woman arrives at Whitestone Castle, announcing that she has been made aware of the passing of Lord Frederick, and now requests an audience with his successor, the ruling Lord: Julius de Rolo... when she is informed that Julius perished with his father, she seems perturbed, but then, strangely, announces that she is aware that Percival, the second son, still lives. Therefore, as heir, she requests and audience with him, as ruling Lord of Whitestone. And then, she presents a signet ring, bearing the de Rolo Crest... Capt. Jarrett tells her he will pass on her request, and immediately takes the ring to Lady Cassandra de Rolo, as she is the Head of the Chamber of Whitestone. They both find the whole circumstance to be suspicious, and upon taking it up with her brother, Percival agrees. They agree to meet with this woman, together. They arrange to have backup brought in, but posted nearby, quietly.
They meet with this elven woman alone.
... this proves to be a terrible, terrible mistake...
She is much more than she appears to be, and Julius did something, years ago, that she now expects Percival and Cassandra, to pay for...

A while back, Spireling Shenn arranged a... "meeting" with the Lord of Whitestone while he was in Emon on business. He wanted to discuss a business deal of his own... he made Lord Percival an offer: the Clasp would help him contain his weapon technology, confiscate guns, ammunition and black powder, they would help him hunt down schematics and designs, people building and trading... they would help him reign in the horror that Ripley had unleashed upon the world... And in exchange, the Clasp would get exclusive rights to all of it. Wielding, trading, selling, building, smuggling... the weapons, designs, ammunition... all of it. Percival told Shenn no. Shenn would not take no for an answer. Ultimately, the twins, Vex & Vax, Allura, Kima and Gilmore came to his rescue.
But Shenn wasn't about to let it go... he was going to continue with his plans. But if Lord de Rolo wasn't with him, he was against him. And that made him a problem. Lord Percival had to disappear. Shenn would see it done, right under everyone's noses, in a place that Lord Percival had been before... only this time, there was no way out... And by the time anyone even knew he was missing, well... it would be too late...

Summary
Grog Strongjaw's cousin Zanror arrives in Whitestone, seeking his cousin's help with infighting in the former Herd of Storms, now part of the Rivermaw Tribe. The defectors seem to have harnessed some twisted power from Gatshadow, and so all of Vox Machina agree to aid him. Gatshadow mountain is as treacherous as ever, and they're soon separated in a battle in thick fog. Grog isn't concerned; everyone in Vox Machina can handle themselves against these pathetic rebels.
... But against him? Well... that's another story... The joy of the fight is shattered for Grog, when he hurls his hammer and misses his intended target... and watches it fly directly into the face of Percival, who had just stepped out from around a tree.
Now he's gone from crushing his enemies, to trying to to sneak past them, cradling the body of his brother, desperately seeking help... before it's too late...

An empire bent on war, conquest, and built on the backs of slaves, he finds that he is not considered someone worth preserving. Not unless he is willing divulge the secret of the deadly weapons that he invented... Upon his refusal, it is determined that he is of little worth, and will simply be put to use for as long as he can be. And in the extreme heat and blazing sun of the work yards of the capital city of Tz'Armm, so near the Equator, a man like Percival, of pale complexion, and accustomed to the cold climate of Whitestone, he will not be of use for very long... he was not made to withstand these conditions, or these temperatures... he will be overwhelmed very quickly... and the Iron Authority isn't interested in wasting resources on ailing slaves... not when their war beasts need to be fed...
If rescue is to come, it must come quickly. He will not survive here for long...
