Julian Alfred Pankratz de Lettenhove se réveille dans une chambre d'auberge de troisième catégorie avec un mal de tête infernal, un mal de gorge, un nouveau tatouage, tout un tas de feuilles blanches éparpillées autour de lui et une mémoire à peu près vide de tout renseignement utile sur son passé. Accompagné d'une rosse à deux doigts de tomber raide morte et d'une liste d'informations pourvue d'autant de trous que sa mémoire, il n'a plus qu'à se lancer à la recherche de lui même.
Malheureusement, à ce stade tout ce qu'il sait c'est qu'il est un paquet de contradictions enrobées dans une énigme et fourrées de mystère, et que la magie est impliquée. Première étape : trouver où se poser et qui est ce Julian Alfred Pankratz de Lettenhove. Deuxième étape : trouver un magicien ou une magicienne pouvant répondre à ses questions. -

Everything is still how it's supposed to be, Geralt can't sleep and Jaskier being chatty and Geralt says "It's like ordering a pie and finding it has no filling," and then the Djinn. But instead of finding the scary, powerful yet also beautiful Yennefer, someone else was there to help Jaskier from the Djinn. Someone from another world, someone who is, too, powerful and magical, and different from everyone and everything else from the Continent.
"You know, Geralt, you could take her up there." Geralt grunted at the brunette opposite him, with a cut on his lip and his cheek swollen. "Fuck. You sure the witch is just a sorceress?"
"Hm. Also a bard. She says."
"A- Geralt, you're fucking with me."
"No."
"So you're a bard hoarder now?""Is it true Witchers are…unable to have children? Yen told me this when she scolded me for wanting to keep you and Jaskier around."
“Yes. It is.”

The man sighs heavily. "I guess you're right." He turns back to Aiden, bright smile back in place. "My apologies, dear witcher, it seems I've forgotten my manners." He offers Aiden his hand to shake with a flourish. "I am the bard Jaskier, graduate of Oxenfurt and Master of the Seven Liberal Arts.
What.
Aiden forces himself to take his hand in a firm shake despite the shock that's numbing his limbs. "Aiden," he says, flashing his teeth in a smile. "You're the Toss a Coin bard, right?" Aiden says, like Lambert didn't spend his whole winter bullying Geralt into agreeing to a late spring meet-up and then ditched Aiden for it specifically for the chance that the bard standing in front of Aiden right now would be there.
Sweet Melitele, Lambert is going to hate him when they meet back up next week. This is amazing.
Or: Aiden meets Jaskier when he least expect it. He promptly decides that if anything ever happened to him, he would kill everyone in this town and then himself. Which would be a shame, considering that this strange town has been so unexpectedly kind to him.

“Geralt!” he called. There was no response. Taking a deep breath, he rounded a corner and looked into the courtyard where he thought the probably-magic had taken place.
The sight that greeted him was… not what he expected.
For one thing, there was no particularly unusual wreckage or carnage. There was no sign of a fight. The courtyard, in fact, was completely unoccupied — except for a large, yellow something beside a heap of stones right in the center.
When Geralt finds himself entangled in a magical mishap, Jaskier is prepared to save him as usual. What he is not prepared for is the sheer strangeness (and sliminess) of the situation— nor the feelings that it will force him to reveal.

Jaskier coughs and coughs. His throat hurts. His head hurts. His whole body hurts, and he’s still gasping. Geralt approaches him again. “Calm down, Jaskier,” he murmurs. “It will be alright.”
That almost helps for a moment, before the witch speaks up. “I can’t,” she says.
“What do you mean you can’t?”
“I stopped the djinn from killing him, but what is gone is gone. Wishes cannot be overturned, not without another djinn.”
Her words ring and throb in Jaskier’s head, echoing as if in a cave. His vocal cords are gone. His voice is gone. Forever.
His voice is gone.

Jaskier looks up from his notebook, the pages in front of him still blank even though he has been sitting at the table for the better part of an hour trying to fill them.
“Since I’ve last heard you sing,” Geralt adds, sitting on their bed with a wooden mortar in his hands, currently stocking up on his potions for the next contract.
They had arrived in town last night after having spent a few days on the road, and the pay offered for the head of the cockatrice threatening the townspeople was too good an opportunity to pass on.
Jaskier clears his throat before he answers. It still feels raw, like there’s an itch he can’t scratch.
“What about it?”
Jaskier feels as though he has lost his voice. But is that quite the truth?
