Summary
“You know what are my favorite rom-coms?” Eddie asked, a rhetorical question because Buck knew he devoured them all, the cheesier the better. If Eddie had a favorite, he certainly didn’t know about it. “The ones where the pining protagonist who doesn’t think they stand a chance finally gets with their best friend who they've been in love with forever. Those have always been my favorites, lately more than ever. Do I really need to spell it out for you why?”
Buck scoffed, hoping that his heartbreak at the implication behind Eddie’s words wasn’t too visible on his face. Though with the way he felt like he was stabbed right through his heart, he knew instantly that was impossible. “Great, so now she’s your new best friend too?”
Or, the one in which Eddie is fake dating a woman and Buck really needs to brush up on his rom-com tropes

Summary
“So, would you say that you’re worried about dating because you never really dated,“ Buck said as he shifted his weight, draping himself over the couch in a way that was almost obscene for a public space. Eddie furrowed his brows and closed the book, certain that Buck would spin a whole conversation around him so that he won’t get back to Fanny Price and her story anytime soon.
“Is that a question, or– ?” Eddie wondered, slightly amused as he looked up at Buck, who looked so pensive, if not a bit stunned as he was seemingly still trying to wrap his head around the disastrous dating experiences of Eddie Diaz.
“No, it’s– yeah, okay, I guess it’s a question but– have you?” Buck asked, almost bashful, with a faint blush sitting high on his cheeks as he met Eddie’s eyes. God, Eddie thought as he felt how the blood rushed into his cheeks as well. These feelings are definitely not platonic.

“It’s not bad, right?” Eddie says, gesturing towards the drink in Buck’s hand.
Buck takes a generous sip, the salt from the glass collecting in the creased corners of his lips. Funny, he didn’t notice that happen to Vanessa when she did the same thing but he guesses his mind was somewhere else when it happened.
Namely on how he almost finished his full disclosure statement.

Summary
Christopher saw a lot. He saw the way Buck and his dad looked at each other. He saw how they took care of each other. He saw how much they loved each other. For a while it didn’t bother him that it went unsaid, because they were his family, and even if they weren’t saying it, they were living it. But now he’d had enough waiting. Buck had died. He heard Carla talking about it, how for a few minutes on the way to the hospital Buck hadn’t had a heartbeat. It was why he was so insistent on going to the hospital to see Buck – if anyone could come back from the dead to keep a promise to Christopher, to come home, it was Buck and his dad. His dads did that. They came home. And Christopher waited and waited and waited for either one of them to say it this time. But weeks had gone by and still nothing. He was done waiting.
Or, Christopher Diaz is done waiting for his Dad and Buck to actually tell each other how they feel. He knows, he knows they know, but no one is saying anything. So he tells his dad to get with the program, and Eddie does.
