Stu sonrió. Una sonrisa amplia y falsa que no llegó a sus ojos. Se enderezó, sacando la mano del bolsillo, pero manteniendo la navaja oculta en su puño.
"Claro, Joey. Perdona", dijo, con una cordialidad que sonó extrañamente normal. "Leslie está en el patio trasero. Ven, te llevo."
Ciertamente no tardaría mucho.
O: La partida repentina y sin previo aviso de Billy agria el estado de ánimo de Stu.
Y, además, ¿qué carajo podría estudiar alguien como él? ¿Se supone que, qué, tiene que asistir a la universidad? ¿Ser adulto? ¿Ser responsable?

Billy and Stu have always been something more than friends.
When they were twelve or thirteen, they thought it was smart to practice kissing before dating girls. It started off as a game, a joke—but over time, it turned into a quiet ritual. Nothing romantic, just closeness. A way to feel safe. It made sense, in that way things only do when you're thirteen and half-feral with love you don't have a name for.

Tatum no gritó cuando lo vio aparecer en el dormitorio. Pensaba que era una broma, aunque a Stu se le aceleró el corazón con temor, alegría y adrenalina cuando ella lo llamó correctamente Stu.
(Y luego: ¡No me asesine, Sr. Ghostface! ¡Quiero estar en la secuela!
Por favor, Tate, había pensado, exasperado, horrorizado y tremendamente divertido a partes iguales. ¿Donde está tu sentido de supervivencia?)
Él necesitaba que ella no sospechara, asi que jugó. Tejió mentiras para hacerla caer en la trampa, y ella había caído. Hasta que no. Hasta que él se acercó con violencia, y sus ojos se agrandaron, su boca se abrió en un grito que nunca pudo empezar porque Stu le golpeó la cabeza contra el mueble. Y la noqueó, esperando que fuera suficiente-
Stu había sopesado las ventajas y desventajas, y eligió la opción más arriesgada, pero era la que aún tenía a Tatum Riley viva en ella. Por eso, Stu lo había arriesgado todo.
El proceso de recuperación es largo y molesto, pero afortunadamente, Stu tiene a Tatum como su cuidadora autoproclamada.

El amor de Stu Macher es esto, esta cosa amplia y posesiva que se hunde bajo la carne y se hace un hogar en ella. Es esto, una agonía placentera que va y viene, pero nunca se desvanece. Es un recipiente que contiene una estrella moribunda y un agujero negro, todo en uno.
Billy Loomis difiere al respecto.
(O: Luego de que Stu se arriesgara a salvar a Tatum esa noche, con el efecto adverso de traicionar sus planes con Billy... Vienen las consecuencias).

Tatum baja la mirada, como si quisiera escapar de la idea y no pudiera sostenerla del todo, pero finalmente asiente.
"¿Cómo puede alguien volverse así?", susurra con ira y dolor en su voz ronca. "¿Cómo puede alguien destruir a las personas que amaba?"
Su pregunta es un cuchillo frío que se le hunde en la piel.
(La respuesta está en la punta de su lengua).
El mejor momento ya pasó. Stu y Billy se divirtieron en una noche sangrienta, crearon una obra maestra del horror, y se salieron con la suya.
Ahora viene la parte más... extraña, si se le puede llamar así a la recuperación después de apuñalarse unos a otros para tener una increíble coartada.
