Summary
Haruka’s eyes squinted shut, tearing up both from the force of the air and the persistent burning of the wound.
She dove towards the first structure she saw. A window in a nearby tower, hanging open just a crack. Without regard for anything except escape, she crashed through the archway and into the room beyond.
Faintly, she heard a feminine voice scream, fabric rustling and shuffling, broken glass clinking against the ground. A fuzzy sort of sensation had settled into her injured wing, and the rest of her body ached and stung. A pair of warm hands wrapped around her torso, gently picking her up.
She wanted to run, to fight, to do anything at all, but everything felt so far away.
Maybe she could rest for just a moment.
