Summary
Every citizen of Gavaldon learned to fear their eighteenth birthday. No one hosted a party until the day had passed and the family could rest easy, their child wouldn’t be ripped away at summer's end every four years. As for the unlucky two, those poor souls woke to find a silver swan branded upon their chest, inescapable. It was hard to tell which was worse, seeing the crest right before that fateful Eve of Summer’s End, or learning of your incoming exile years in advance.
