The moment he heard the door click open, his eyes widened and quickly peeled towards the woman’s serious figure. Even though her professional expression never wavered she let out what seems to be a surprised hum, or it sounded more like an acknowledgement to Rambley.
In stress he held his tail tightly and swallowed. He knew she was only going to ask questions but the fear still remains, even though they promised not to hurt them.

Rambley knows he isn't one of them. A being of flesh and blood, born illegally out of animal experimentation. Beings that needed to eat, sleep, and breathe to survive. Rambley knows he has it good, not having a physical body that the staff can hurt and abuse to keep the mascots in line (though he dreams he does). He's heard the wails of pain coming from the containment areas. He's heard what could only be described as a plea for forgiveness echoing down the pale coradors of the back rooms during relentless “discipline”.
Rambley's not stupid. He knows he's better off as he is now. He knows. But the longing remained.
