Summary
After a long and fierce war between the Adrestian Empire and the Church, the Mad Emperor is defeated and imprisoned, her execution inevitable. An incident between the two of them leaves Rhea confused and she finds herself curious to Edelgard's past, the reasons why she became what she is today, and also what information she holds of Rhea's own enemies.
As Rhea makes her way deeper and deeper into the answers she's looking for, Edelgard helps her find herself instead.
And slowly Rhea finds herself drawn to the Mad Emperor in a way that seems to elude the both of them, as thoughts and feelings, which both of them had been suppressing and denying themselves for all their lives bubble to the surfaces in ways neither of them thought possible.With a stubborn Edelgard hellbent on creating as much hubris and chaos before her public execution, this will prove to be a difficult few weeks for the very tired Archbishop.

Summary

From her earliest memory people have treated her with suspicion and caution and while this didn't remotely deter her from enjoying her childhood it becomes an increasingly heavy burden as she matured, her future looking more bleak with each passing year. Summary
When Edelgard is forced to conclude she has been developing feelings for her prisoner, the former Archbishop of all people, she thinks that those feelings come with the appropriate amount of heart wrenching guilt and self-loathing.
Rhea kindly takes it upon herself to steadily remind Edelgard she's very wrong about that.The clueless Emperor, vastly more knowledgeable on warfare than love, hopelessly wrangles with herself trying to balance fighting a war for what she has believed in all these years while simultaneously trying to find a way to treat Rhea right, perhaps even save her from Edelgard herself.
Rhea isn't being very helpful and instead keeps telling her that any act of kindness from a captor to their prisoner is nothing but manipulation, abuse and an unfairness she doesn't want to be subjected to. In fact, she'd rather prefers to just be tortured then.
Edelgard's heart, which she had thought was numb by now, just keeps on hurting.

The heretic might just bring her extra paperwork or stuffy meanings she's really not amicable about.
Rhea has walked the monastery grounds for so long, she's seen and experienced it all. By know she knows her job, her purpose, what she is and what she cannot be. Edelgard quickly reminds her that no matter how long she ignored it, there are many kind of things the ageless Archbishop still wants.

It had been there since Rhea was a child, and its purpose then was the same as today, a meeting spot for the various ‘lost women’ of her city. Women who, unlike her, heard the sirens call of lust and temptation and decided to dive head first into the waters after it. But Rhea was stronger then that.
Or at least she had been.
